Issue 6: Cuts/Tears

The theme of Inscription issue 6 is cuts and tears.
Our cover image is from Abigail Reynolds, and the issue features articles from scholars and theorists on tearing in avant garde art, semiological and surgical slicing in nineteenth-century Chinese hospitals, Virginia Woolf’s book vandalism, books with holes, cutting up Graham Greene, torn typesetting and a Chaucer pocket book. Also included is a vinyl 7” from Stephen Emmerson, specially commissioned book-tearing work from Buzz Spector, and art editions from Erica Baum, Dave Beech, David Bellingham, Jo Hamill, Steve Zultanki, Bas Jan Ader, Lucio Fontana and the Rosetta collective.
